A hand painted sign. “I love it!” as Billy Connolly would say. I like the simplicity, honesty and individuality of this work. It is not just some laser cut vinyl letters mounted on a board. This is a classic handmade sign by someone who knew a thing or two about typography before dipping his (or her) paintbrush into black and white paint. Instead of being impersonal, you’re interested in who did it. Was it Ed, the farmer himself? Or perhaps the farmer’s wife or maybe a hidden talent behind the farmer’s handyman? Anyway, it’s a lovely combination of a bold sans serif and a personal, almost flowery, typeface. And the artist couldn’t resist adding a few illustrative details and why not?
